Best Electric Brooms Buyer Guide
Given the great choice, it is not at all difficult to find models on offer and sold online at low prices. Often, behind the proposals are the best-selling products online, real business or electric brooms of questionable quality. To prevent you from purchasing the latter, we suggest you follow our purchase advice.
In addition to indicating where to buy online and explaining how many types of electric broom there are, we list the strengths and weaknesses of each type. This way, you will know how to choose a good electric brush. Just compare the prices of the various models may not be enough, and the demonstration comes from our ranking.
How Many Types of Electric Brooms Are There?
If you are interested in buying a new electric broom, you should first know how many and what types of brushes are on the market.
The first distinction is between “electric brooms with wire ” and “electric brooms without wire “. As part of the former, we find electric brushes with bags and brooms that, relying on the latest cyclone technology, collect dust and dirt in a plastic tank, definitively giving up the bag.
To the category of the latter belong only brooms with cyclonic technology, therefore without the bag , and rechargeable batteries.
Of these, some have a traditional shape, that is based on a motor placed at half-height, others have a very high centre of gravity, housing both the engine and the dust collection container in the handle.
The latter – if you have decided to buy a wireless electric broom- they can be particularly comfortable because, in addition to slipping everywhere, they allow you to reach high points such as window sills, edges of furniture and ceilings without too much effort.
Not only that, with the senior center of gravity brooms, just remove the main tube to transform them into efficient portable vacuum cleaners for use in cars, boats or campers or to clean the upholstery of the house, such as armchairs, sofas and their cushions.
Electric Broom with Wire or Without Wire?
With wire or without wire? When deciding to buy a new electric broom, this question is one of the most common. An “electric broom with wire ” draws the power necessary to start and run the engine from the standard 220-230 V power outlets. We will have no limits in the times of use, we can use the electric broom as many times a day as we want and always have excellent suction power available.
However, we will have the wire between our feet and, in passing from one room to another, we will probably have to turn off the appliance to unplug it and insert it into another electrical outlet.
Although the new European directives on power and electrical absorption are more stringent than in the past, the electric brooms with wire continue to be very powerful and to remove debris, even several grams, from the floor or any other surface, rigid or soft. At minimum speeds, if provided, some models of electric brooms such as those signed by Miele are also quite silent.
“Cordless electric broom” means instead that the power needed for the broom to work comes from an internal rechargeable battery, almost always lithium-ion.
We will never have the wire between our feet again, we can use the mop with ease even in narrow spaces and along the stairs, without risking tripping and without the hassle of moving the plug from one socket to another—all very nice and comfortable, at least at first glance.
The wireless electric brooms, however soft and technologically advanced as the Dyson, still show limits. Keep them in mind before choosing which electric brush to buy .
The Limits of Rechargeable Battery Electric Brooms
The duration of the vast majority of electric brooms Cordless battery (and bagless ) is still limited to a maximum of 30 minutes or so.
Most of the models, to be honest, hardly go beyond 20 minutes. Values that, mind you, refer to the use of the broom at minimum suction power. And in some cases, Dyson is an example of this, the use of the broom not combined with the motorized brush.
This is not a problem if we have to clean small apartments, but it starts to become so when the surfaces to be treated exceed 80, 90 square meters.
The suction power, then, is rarely constant over time. Especially in economic models, it happens that in the first few minutes the electric broom is more efficient than in the final minutes.
It is no coincidence that the most prominent manufacturers of cordless sweepers tend to emphasize that the power of their models remains constant for all the minutes of operation. To avoid even the slightest waste of energy, almost all rechargeable brooms work only if you continuously press and hold the On / Off button.
Batteries also have no eternal life. For this reason, it is said that the quality of a rechargeable broom must be assessed over the medium to long term (from six months upwards).
Online cases and opinions are widespread in which users report a drop in power already within the first year of use. A battery that has undergone a high number of charge/discharge cycles must be replaced (when possible).
The recharge times necessary to bring the electric brooms back to their maximum autonomy are also several hours. If the mop is unloaded halfway through the cleaning or it is not fully loaded when we need it, then we will have to wait a long time before starting again.
Electric Broom with Or without The Bag?
This question has begun to haunt the mind of those who buy a new electric broom since cyclonic technology has spread. The brushes that use it, relying on the centrifugal force to which the incoming air is subjected, do not, in fact, need any bag in which to deposit the dust.
With this premise, there is still no definitive answer to the question “with or without a bag?” because, as with the wire and rechargeable brooms, the two types of household appliances have their pros and cons. Let’s see them together.
